Landscape Coordinator

Kijana Mohamed Doyo has been serving as our Landscape Coordinator since June 2024. He is a nature enthusiast with an experience of over six years in wildlife management and conservation. His journey in conservation started in 2014 when he was admitted to the University of Nairobi to study for a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management and Conservation. While at the University, his love for nature grew by joining Nature Kenya and Friends of Nairobi National Park, undertaking game counts, game drives, bird counts, birds ringing, monitoring wildlife trends, research, and wildlife safaris.

Before joining PECFO, Kijana was a Research Assistant at Research Partners for Africa (RESPA), doing marine-based research. He also worked at A Rocha Kenya, where he was one of the researchers who spearheaded terrestrial and marine research and Environmental Education. He even interned for one year at the State Department for Wildlife.

Kijana has strong analytical abilities for conducting research, monitoring wildlife populations, and analyzing ecological data. He is also good at project management and fundraising and proficient in computer applications and GIS. At PECFO, Kijana is responsible for developing and implementing landscape-level strategies and plans for community-based conservation, conservancies’ coordination and capacity development, and maintaining stakeholders’ collaborations.
