For years, community rangers at Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary in Kwale have patrolled the over 10,100-acre piece of land on foot, protecting wildlife, combating poaching, and addressing illegal logging.
Today, the rangers received a much-needed boost with two motorbikes and two portable Wi-Fi routers, supported through the Kenya Conservancies Fund (KCF) IKI Project with support from Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA).
The motorbikes will enhance ranger mobility and improve response time to reported incidents, while the portable Wi-Fi routers will facilitate the timely submission of biodiversity and patrol data, strengthening evidence-based conservation and decision-making.
Equipping frontline conservationists with the right tools means stronger protection for wildlife, habitats, and community livelihoods.
